AHAHAHAHA My sister and her friends in the Doctor Who club at Coe are SO much cooler than the Coe Witches.

For April Fool's Day they gained entrance to all the buildings on campus and used dry erase markers to write BAD WOLF on all available surfaces, and put 'badwolf' as the username in lab computers. LOVE. She says next year they are putting up 'Vote Saxon' posters.

My sister is one of the coolest people I know.

That aside, today was a good day. I was up at stupid o'clock for the job interview, and it went pretty good. They're at the beginning of the interview process so it could be another week or two before I hear anything. Mom and I went to CR to fetch Gretchen for Easter, and that was pretty much it.

I had to change my shirt for church tonight, mom didn't think that the Community Party t-shirt was appropriate for a Good Friday service. And she is probably right.

I'm contemplating a layout change.

So at Movie Gallery we have racks of previewed movies for sale. And on our $9.99 rack there is a rather... unfortunate shelving coincidence since we put them in alphabetical order.

"Thank You For Smoking" sits right in front of "Things We Lost in the Fire." XD

I feel SO much better with the antibiotics. I swear, I literally FELT myself getting better. Of course that might have been suddenly being able to breathe through my nose again. \o/

Tonight after I got off work I didn't really feel like going home, so I went to the movie theater in Davenport to see a late show of whatever. I ended up going to see Taken, because a) Liam Neeson kicks my ass, your ass, and everybody else's ass too, and b) there were no more Inkheart showings and Frost/Nixon didn't start until 10:25 which would have made me stay out a little later than I wanted to.

So I saw Taken. Was it over the top, maybe? Absolutely. Was it awesome? Fuck yes. The fact that Liam Neeson basically dwarfs EVERYONE ELSE IN THE FRAME makes him about twenty times more awesome. I could continue my list of why Liam Neeson is awesome but honestly, it would probably start to look a lot like Chuck Norris facts and it's late. It was a fun movie.

ETA: Okay, I should go to bed since I'm going to Iowa City with my mom tomorrow to meet my grandparents \o/ but I had to share this YouTube video of Christian Bale's freakout... remixed.

For some reason, I have agreed to play Mystery Can with [livejournal.com profile] thinkatory. Except we added a rule that we each get to choose one thing the other person can't get, so no canned meat and no sauerkraut, lest we both barf excessively.

ETA: Okay, two new rules. The writing on the can has to be in English, inspired by this can.

One of five grad school applications is in. \o/ Of course I have to send other stuff, but it's a place to start.

ETA: Although I can't remember who I sent my GRE scores to and how much money it's going to cost me to resend them to everyone. ;_;

So, watching Ripley's Believe it or Not just now, I found out that Swansea, Wales is home to the world's largest rubber band ball. Also, werewolves. And a lot of sheep.

Oh my gaaaaaawd.

So tonight I worked at the Movie Gallery (*sports her FREE HANCOCK T-SHIRT*) and I was taking movies out of the drop box for the 7:00 check in, when I hear a SCRAPE CRASH HORN. And I looked up and there was a car ON THE SIDEWALK, PARALLEL TO THE BUILDING. I spent a minute going o_o and then I ran around the counter and went outside. I went to the driver's side and asked if everyone was okay. The lady, an older lady with her two little granddaughters, said they were all okay, and she wanted me to call someone for her. I'd left the store unattended and wasn't comfortable calling anyway, but I dialed 911 for her on my phone and let her talk to them, then I went back into the store.

A couple of minutes later there was a police car, and my manager went outside and started taking pictures. What a guy. XD ANYWAY, the lady had thought she was backing out of the parking space, diagonal to the curb, but it turns out that was not the case. But there was a truck coming and she tried to put her foot on the brake, but instead she put her foot on the accelerator. So she took out the front bumper on the SUV next to her, and wound up on the sidewalk.

RJ said we now offer valet parking at the Movie Gallery. \o/

I'm sitting here at Panera in Davenport (I work at 1 so I had to ride down with my brother in the morning, long story short) and I just turned to look out the window and it was SNOWING. Just a little. But it was definitely snowing. And then I glared outside and it stopped. :D We'll see how long that lasts. Also, I was standing in line to get a sammich (om nom nom) and this little girl (four, maybe fiveish) said, "Gramma, that lady's so tall!"

LOL.

I went back to Coe yesterday to see Electra, the second fall production. It was amazing, no two ways about it. It reminded me why I love theatre. Not just why I love going to see it, but why I have to make it. I have to do theatre in some way or another. It's one of the few things that all civilizations on earth have had (especially if you're applying a wider definition of theatre), and there's nothing like watching an actor pour themselves into a shell that we call a "character," or helping them to do it.

Also, they made it RAIN in the Dows. That was my first question at the talk back. "I spent four years in this theatre, how did you make it rain?" Basically they took a sprinkler system that would be buried in someone's yard and put it in the grid. I'm gobsmacked. It was brilliant, it worked wonderfully. The walls of the house were supposed to bleed to, since Orestes killed everyone he was supposed to, but the pump jammed and it didn't end up doing that. Damn shame, it would have been awesome.

Everyone was phenomenal. I just. I love it.

My sister, also, skipped classes on Wednesday to go to Chicago with some of her friends to this one Hot Topic where they were selling t-shirts and wristbands to get in an audience with Robert Pattinson. XD It was quite an adventure from the sounds of it. They didn't get in to that smaller audience, but they watched him give a public address in front of Macy's. I asked if he looks as drug addled in person, and she said yes. XD Oh, Robert Pattinson. Never change, please. XD

I'm watching Desperate Housewives of Atlanta on Bravo and, the lone white chick? Kim? She wants to be a singer, but she cannot sing for a damn. And when I say that, I don't mean that she has small imperfections in her voice. Everyone does. Except John Barrowman. But this is... AGH. She can't match pitch. And I'm not sure that she can hear that she can't match pitch.

My GRE results came in, and I got a 620 verbal (out of 800, up from 550 last time), 530 quantitative (from 500), and a 5.5 in analytical writing (out of six, up from 4.5). I'm pleased. Now I just have to decide what the fuck I'm doing.

Blah. I'm tired and I work tomorrow.

ETA: Oh, and: "Wow. Ralph Nader... what was that?"
LOOOOOOOOOOOOL

I suppose it's not that funny when you consider it, but the look on the guy's face can only be described as "I Refuse To Believe That Was Just Said" or maybe, "Holy Shit He Went There And He Ain't Comin' Back."

So I haven't updated much because honestly it's been kind of low-key around here, but today I finally have good news, so here's what's been going on in the last week.

1. I worked two days in a week for the first time in a long time. I love pretending like I'm going to be a contributing member of society.

2. I joined [livejournal.com profile] westerosorting and am working diligently on finishing AFFC so that I can get my app in so I can find out what great house I belong to. \o/

3. I am taking my second GRE on Saturday and I have been relearning how to do algebra, geometry, fractions, and learning about statistics and probability so that I can do better than I did originally. I also wish that I could somehow inherently improve my essay writing skillz like a mofo but alas I don't think it's going to happen. I'm just going to have to make sure that I'm doing my best.

4. On the TV front, my mom has started watching Dirty Sexy Money with me, and my dad has taken to watching Heroes with me so that he can make fun of me when I make noises and yell at the TV. I also finally finished Angel (I liked it, but not as much as I liked Buffy -- it had its moments, like Smile Time wherein Angel becomes a puppet). Joss always kills my favorites, though. The bastard. :( With Angel behind me I no longer have an excuse for not writing Reneesme Cullen/Connor Angel-slash-Reilly I can now watch Doctor Who and Torchwood, which I have started to do -- Doctor Who, anyway. I'm making myself wait for Torchwood (WAH). I think I secretly adore Christopher Eccleston and I want a TARDIS for Christmas.

5. There were many lolz to be had in RP last night. LOLZ are the only reason I do anything anymore.

6. I was contemplating doing NaNoWriMo because I really, really want to and I have an idea and everything, but I'm just not sure. I don't want to start it and be on track only to not do anything for three days in the middle of the month and then boom get behind and discouraged. I might do it anyway, since I don't have pile of homework and three term papers like I have in years past. >_>

7. One reason I love my Movie Gallery job: I get to talk about movies and be paid for it. My co-worker and I last Saturday talked about scary movies with basically every customer who came in and wanted a copy of The Happening, which we can't seem to keep on the shelf. She can't do them at all, and my problem is that I can never seem to find one that's scary enough. The last one I saw that I was truly scared by was The Blair Witch Project which -- okay, say what you want about that movie, but when you're twelve, watching it in the middle of the night because you know your parents wouldn't let you, and watching it in the dark lest mom and dad become suspicious... that is a fucking scary movie. I did not want to get up off the couch to turn off the TV. Maybe I'm too cynical for scary movies, I just end up thinking, "Man. That's lame," and I inevitably get bored.

8. Friday we were all ready to go to my brother's play(s) and then BAM my sister called my mom and asked if anyone was going to come get her. It was her fall break, except she had neglected to tell anyone this until that point. So we changed our plans and went to Cedar Rapids to get her. I took her back yesterday, and reminded her to tell us the next time she wanted to come home. I'm glad that we got to go to CR, though, I love road tripping with my family because seriously. Some of the stuff that happens when I'm out with all of them I could not make up if I tried.

9. Finally, I got that job I interviewed last week for and I am going tonight to do paperwork. \o/ I am going to go crazy but you know what, at least I will be paid. Not particularly well paid, but still paid.
