[livejournal.com profile] thinkatory: ... we did and that is so fucking awesome

ABC just interrupted their election coverage for a special report on the election. I feel like I just tripped into a Samuel Beckett play that was never written.

Perhaps the best thing I saw on TV tonight so far (besides George Stephanopoulos's hair) was Jesse Jackson in tears.

Tom Harkin got re-elected to the senate from Iowa. Iowa also went to Obama.

Things won't get better overnight, but I have more hope.

I got up and voted today, yay. \o/ I was the 320th person to vote in the precinct, and I know that a lot of people were making a BFD about voting early, but to do that I would have had to drive to Clinton to the auditor's office and at my age, there's still something exciting about standing in line and waiting my turn to vote. Er, not that there was a line, since it was in the middle of the morning.

I would love to hang around the house tonight and watch network television, but unfortunately I have to work in Davenport. Which is, you know, okay. My brother is riding down with me because he and his ~*girlfriend*~ are having dinner.

So on the order of my boss I took some horror movies out of the store. I watched Saw last night and. Ew. I also took out Saw II and Hostel.

I had something else I was going to say, but I forget. :(

I was going to post this on a note in [livejournal.com profile] phiremangston's Facebook, but I was getting a little grandstandy.

The Weathermen may have been a domestic terrorist organization, but they were a symptom of the problems in this country at the time, not a cause. They were a product of the tumultuous 60's. I'm not saying their methods were kosher, but when you push people to the edge where they feel like they either have to jump over the edge or stop pushing back and give up, sometimes they're going to jump. To call Obama a terrorist or say that he endorses it because he served on a board with Ayers 1999-2002 is ridiculous. Obama was eight when the Weathermen made their charter at a SDS convention in 1969, the way some people are talking about it are making it sound like Obama was in the room with them.

Sorry. People just tick me off sometimes.

Reason 48029 Aaron Sorkin Rules Me.

If you don't want to click that link based on that, then let me tell you that it is a meeting of Barack Obama and Jed Bartlet. Now see if you want to click on that link.

Yeah. That's what I thought you said! :)

Angst angst angst.

I'm working myself up at night about work (i.e. how I'm only doing it eight hours a week and I can't do grad school on that) and passing out with the help of my leftover xanax, and it does not provide good rest. It's just passing out. Which is why I stayed in my pajamas all day yesterday, I was exhausted.

Angst angst angst.

Have some David Tennant as Hamlet for your trouble.

ETA: Also, Alaska governor Sarah Palin for McCain's running mate? Really? That's amazing.

Alaska has a governor?
