I have the serious urge to shop.

I like shopping. I didn't used to. But in high school, this became a way that I connect with people. My mother and I like to go and try things on and put outfits together, even if we can't buy anything. (Okay, things that aren't on clearance. >_>) Eventually, my sister was old enough that she also got into the clothing thing and we all three like to go when we're together. Whenever Bee comes to visit me or vice versa we usually end up at a mall once (and if we're in Manhattan, wow don't even start). Kitty and I have shopped too, because she's about three inches around and is super fun to dress up.

I even like shopping alone sometimes. It's not as much fun getting second opinions and all, but I don't like to feel like I'm dragging people.

Anyway. Shopping is a problem because first of all, I should be saving money where I can, not spending it. Secondly, because I know it's because I don't want to work. I have two major assignments due Monday and don't want to do either of them. Thirdly, I'm feeling depressed and anxious and am looking for something to fill that hole.

Shopping in this state will have the effect of making me happy temporarily, but when I get home I'll have buyer's guilt and the money will be gone and I will have wasted my time and I'll be depressed and anxious again.

(Although both pairs of my jeans are wearing thin in the special area. If they rip, I'll have to replace them. :\ Slippery slope, I'm on it.)

I am watching the British version of Who Do You Think You Are. I downloaded Stephen Fry and David Tennant, although right now I'm watching Rupert Penry-Jones (om nom nom) because I can. He's traveled to India because his mother's family was British army in India, and it is so damn gorgeous. I am reminded how I'd like to travel to southeast Asia. I wouldn't go alone, though, because I've seen Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason. People will stick shit in your suitcase and before you know it, you're a drug mule.

But I'd love to visit India. And Cambodia, Vietnam, Thailand, but like I said, I wouldn't want to go alone. For safety reasons, as well as that sort of thing would just be more fun with someone else. I mean, I've traveled alone before, but Europe is... different. That sounds kind of awful, I know, but it is what it is.

This show is fascinating and I'm such a nerd, but it's amazing. Rupert Penry-Jones has been chasing after his mother's side of the family, where there was a family legend that they had some Indian blood in them. Lo and behold, a baptism record showed one of his ancestors was an "Indo-Briton" and now he can go even further back. *glee*

I've started putting stuff in my car, and packing things. I might make it back yet.

ETA: And now I'm watching Stephen Fry who is, of course, a total scream. "Oh how extraordinary! Look what it says: pauper inmate. Oh my god, he's a pauper inmate at the Lewisham Workhouse in the High street! How fantastic, how Dickensian! We have come a long way, we Frys."

To Do )

Val and I went to see New Moon because her roommates bought tickets but then they didn't want to go. It was DEFINITELY worth it. I actually liked it better than the first one, I thought it was a lot better. I credit this to the fact that they had a bigger budget and they didn't put that nasty blue filter on everything. MICHAEL SHEEN was everything I could have wanted in an Aro and more. I'll stop myself there, but. Wow. VOLTERRA WAS VOLTERRA! THE SNOZZBERRIES TASTE LIKE SNOZZBERRIES! And the ending was perfect. XD

Perhaps even better was the impromptu theatre that was created when the fire alarm went off and we had to evacuate the theatre. First, some people refused to leave the theatre, and then the epic whining began while we were waiting outside for the firetrucks to do their thing. We eventually got to go back in and. Well:
[02:39] [livejournal.com profile] dramaturgy: Oh god. And then we were being let back in the theatre, so we were waiting for the movie to get started again.
[02:39] [livejournal.com profile] dramaturgy: When this group of tweens in the middle of the theatre start "ED-WARD *clap clap* ED-WARD *clap clap*"
[02:39] [livejournal.com profile] dramaturgy: And pretty soon we get, "JA-COB *clap clap* JA-COB *clap clap"
[02:40] [livejournal.com profile] thinkatory: *dead*
[02:40] [livejournal.com profile] dramaturgy: I WISH I WAS MAKING THIS UP, KITTY.
[02:40] [livejournal.com profile] thinkatory: SO DO I
[02:40] [livejournal.com profile] thinkatory: OH MY GOD YOU CANNOT MAKE THIS SHIT UP
[02:40] [livejournal.com profile] thinkatory: That is. XD
[02:41] [livejournal.com profile] dramaturgy: I was like DEAR GOD IT'S GOING TO BE A BLOODBATH.

Oh and there was more ~drama tonight. Honestly I think we're all at the end of the semester and we all need a nap and a juicebox but none of us are getting either so we're just cranky.

Every once in awhile, my state does something that makes me VERY proud to be an Iowan.
