dramaturgy: ([House] I'm proud of you.)
So I haven't updated much because honestly it's been kind of low-key around here, but today I finally have good news, so here's what's been going on in the last week.

1. I worked two days in a week for the first time in a long time. I love pretending like I'm going to be a contributing member of society.

2. I joined [livejournal.com profile] westerosorting and am working diligently on finishing AFFC so that I can get my app in so I can find out what great house I belong to. \o/

3. I am taking my second GRE on Saturday and I have been relearning how to do algebra, geometry, fractions, and learning about statistics and probability so that I can do better than I did originally. I also wish that I could somehow inherently improve my essay writing skillz like a mofo but alas I don't think it's going to happen. I'm just going to have to make sure that I'm doing my best.

4. On the TV front, my mom has started watching Dirty Sexy Money with me, and my dad has taken to watching Heroes with me so that he can make fun of me when I make noises and yell at the TV. I also finally finished Angel (I liked it, but not as much as I liked Buffy -- it had its moments, like Smile Time wherein Angel becomes a puppet). Joss always kills my favorites, though. The bastard. :( With Angel behind me I no longer have an excuse for not writing Reneesme Cullen/Connor Angel-slash-Reilly I can now watch Doctor Who and Torchwood, which I have started to do -- Doctor Who, anyway. I'm making myself wait for Torchwood (WAH). I think I secretly adore Christopher Eccleston and I want a TARDIS for Christmas.

5. There were many lolz to be had in RP last night. LOLZ are the only reason I do anything anymore.

6. I was contemplating doing NaNoWriMo because I really, really want to and I have an idea and everything, but I'm just not sure. I don't want to start it and be on track only to not do anything for three days in the middle of the month and then boom get behind and discouraged. I might do it anyway, since I don't have pile of homework and three term papers like I have in years past. >_>

7. One reason I love my Movie Gallery job: I get to talk about movies and be paid for it. My co-worker and I last Saturday talked about scary movies with basically every customer who came in and wanted a copy of The Happening, which we can't seem to keep on the shelf. She can't do them at all, and my problem is that I can never seem to find one that's scary enough. The last one I saw that I was truly scared by was The Blair Witch Project which -- okay, say what you want about that movie, but when you're twelve, watching it in the middle of the night because you know your parents wouldn't let you, and watching it in the dark lest mom and dad become suspicious... that is a fucking scary movie. I did not want to get up off the couch to turn off the TV. Maybe I'm too cynical for scary movies, I just end up thinking, "Man. That's lame," and I inevitably get bored.

8. Friday we were all ready to go to my brother's play(s) and then BAM my sister called my mom and asked if anyone was going to come get her. It was her fall break, except she had neglected to tell anyone this until that point. So we changed our plans and went to Cedar Rapids to get her. I took her back yesterday, and reminded her to tell us the next time she wanted to come home. I'm glad that we got to go to CR, though, I love road tripping with my family because seriously. Some of the stuff that happens when I'm out with all of them I could not make up if I tried.

9. Finally, I got that job I interviewed last week for and I am going tonight to do paperwork. \o/ I am going to go crazy but you know what, at least I will be paid. Not particularly well paid, but still paid.

I'm getting a social life. I think I'm going to die. ::dies::

Things to Do This Weekend:

  • Go see CoS again with Candice, Rachel, and my sister. (Viewing number three for me!)
  • Sort of clean my car.
  • Windowshop for my Secret Santa
  • Write that Hermione and her parents bunny that jumped into my head.
  • Homework
  • Get my camera developed.

Once I get my camera developed, you all can get pictures of me with the SugarQuill people, "Murder at the Vicarage", and me looking very Hermione-ish as well as selling my soul to an RPG.
dramaturgy: (Default)
1. Draco's father will have him killed.

2. Rachael all of the sudden has a thing about calling me by my full name. "Elizabeth S****, will you get my flag from the car?" "Come look at this, Elizabeth S****." It drives me insane.

3. Ahem. I went to an away football game tonight, of my own will and showed school spirit. You may check my basement for pods.

4. For some odd reason my friend Heather lives with her boyfriend and his family. I don't know much about him... but I don't like it. She wanted to go to the football game with us, and he was going to say no, but he was... I don't know. He was pissed off at Heather, and said, "Fine, go to the football game! Find another guy!"... I might be worrying over nothing, but... I just don't like how this looks.

5. Morgan asked me what I wanted for my birthday... fuck, what do I want for my birthday? ... A paid LJ and FA crap! :D

6. Speaking of FA crap, where can I get said LN shirts?

7. Charlie: Have you ever... tried a Weasley, Malfoy?

Narcissa: I've never had the inclination, truthfully.

Charlie: Then you wouldn't know you want better than a Weasley, would you? ::smirky-grin::

Oh. I'm dying.

8. [livejournal.com profile] relic5_5? Where are yoooooooooooooooou?

9. Fire and Dixie are going to kill me. I'm almost certain they sit around and say, "Hm, what Percy/Lav thing can we do today that will KILL Liz?"

I will get you one of these days. Somehow. The genius has yet to strike me across the face, but.

10. I WANT A REAL MARCHING BAND, DAMMIT! I don't want a band that marching onto the field, plays three songs, and marches off. I want a field show and to go to a competition and win and have a winterguard. Dammit I feel like such a loser.
dramaturgy: (Default)
1. Just woke up from a nap. Zzzz.

2. We have a foreign exchange student at school from Poland. He speaking like Viktor. "I am thinking that..." "I am wanting..." EVERYTHING IS PRESENT PROGRESSIVE WITH HIM! ::squees::

3. History test tomorrow. How symbolic.

4. Benadryl puts me out for 3+ hours at a time.

5. Will probably have some sort of big, hopefully meaningful post for tomorrow. Will randomly IM everyone on my buddy lists and tell them that I love them. Will most likely thought of as odd.
dramaturgy: (Childhood)
1. God, I love the show "Boy Meets World"! ::squees::

2. "Mists of Avalon" is a wonderful book. Yes, I'm reading it again.

3. Thanks to Melle for my new phrase. "What the fucking fuck?"

4. Money. I need it. Subway hasn't called. I need money.

5. How can I present the SQ Midwest summit in such a way that my parents will think its a good idea?
dramaturgy: (Inferior)
1. Even though the chance of him seeing this is slim to none... Happy Birthday, Tony! ::toots kazoo and hands you a car::

2. Speaking of slim, is it not interesting that 'slim chance' and 'fat chance' mean the same thing?

3. Coming off of stupid questions, if you strangle a smurf, what color will it turn?

4. I hate this movie. "Get A Clue", what a title. Its a Disney movie featuring a Mary Sue detective who gets the guy, solves the mystery, saves the day, and still has time to be perfectly groomed and accesorized. If I went to school with this chick, I would hate her. But, Bug Hall. Mm.

5. Speaking of Disney movies I hate, "Gotta Kick it Up". They are supposed to be dancers. They look/act/compete like mother fucking cheerleaders.

6. I adore this song. It becomes more and moer Marcus/Oliver everytime I listen to it.

7. [livejournal.com profile] twelveeyes, I'm working on your CDs! (It'll have to be two, because I can't fit it in one!)

8. Why is it when I'm struck with inspiration, I can't write?

9. And what the Hell posessed me to give the award for "Prettiest Blue Shirt" in speech today?

10. The girl I sit next to in choir reminds me of [livejournal.com profile] digikym, looks-wise. She's a real sweetie. (But Kym still owns me, along with [livejournal.com profile] asilvahalo. They gave me shower sex.)
dramaturgy: (Childhood)
1. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, EB!

2. Is it only guys who do things like this? Honestly.

3. [livejournal.com profile] anidraugluin rocks my socks. :D

4. I went to Wal-Mart today. I bought GoF in paperback and bought my school supplies. *sobs* I don't know what I'm going to do. Honestly, school? I scoff at thee. I get the school clothes (yayee!) tomorrow, and I register and get my schedule. You will be informed of the schedule so that when you are at work/home during the day you can look at your clock and laugh at me, saying, "Ah ha! Liz is being tortured in Alegbra II right now!" After which you will proceed to laugh evilly.

5. Someone asked me why I named my car Ron. Rather than give them the honest answer, I said, "Why not?"

6. I need to wreak some havoc. Would somebody like to wreak some havoc with me?

7. Why am I sniggering madly?

8. I'm so bored. I'm taking icon challenges/requests. Because I need something to do!

9. I can't wait to go home.

10. If you made it this far, congratulations. You are officially bored.

Things To Do When I Get Home:

  • Learn to use WinAmp
  • Get nifty WinAmp skin
  • Get rid of the Audiogalaxy.
  • Get Imesh.
  • Listen to "I'm Sorry" (David Kauffman) repeatedly.
  • Smite stupid newbies.
  • Clean the friggin desk of all boy scout paraphenalia.
  • Get a life Further the insanity.
dramaturgy: (Love)
Showing off my new avatar. I swear, I must change avatars more often than I change socks. I am, however, moving into sandal-wearing season, so hopefully that won't change.

Today was my last day of school as a sophomore! I am officially an upperclassman, and it feels good. Now I can push around freshmen some more. *sniggers*

Reflections on this Year:
1. I missed Cory, a lot. Cory would have been sitting right next to me in band this year, as I was last flute (but still Queen of Sophomore Band Geeks) and he would have been first horn. You have no idea how depressing that is.
2. Mrs. Goetsch was awesome. She was far too cool to be a geometry teacher. Same for Mr. Ryan.
3. Biology was only as bad as I thought it was going to be when we were dissecting something. I liked Mr. Kreiter, he was a great teacher and finally taught me something about genetics.
4. I'm almost positive that I want to do something with writing or journalism now. Mrs. Gilroy is a wonderful teacher, and she might be a bit batty, but she knows what she's talking about and was my favorite teacher this year.
5. The sophomore chorus was the best even though we were the smallest with 40 people. Quality over quantity.
6. There is nothing more fun than marching band. Flags rock, and so does baton. We are the half time show, that's all there is too it. Concert band rocks too. I don't care what anyone says about Mr. Ed (McMahon, yes, his name IS Ed McMahon), I was about ready to quit band after my middle school teacher ruined things for me, and he got me enthusiastic about music again. I will forever owe him for that.
7. Gym still sucked.
8. Study Hall was the best.
9. World History was great. Mr. Thomas is on my list of "Coolest People Ever". He's an interesting person that has a lot of interesting things to say, I wish that every single last one of you could meet him. He's got a wonderfully dry sense of humor and humorous stories.
10. Spanish was okay. But I can't wait to get up to Spanish IV where we have the people actually interested in learning the language in the class.

Moving on.

HERE is a quiz on old wives tales and "Mother Myths". I saw one thing on there that disturbed me:

2. Your 6-year-old daughter is a terribly picky eater. The best thing to say to her as she refuses once again to touch the dinner you’ve so lovingly prepared is:

The correct answer: C. Don’t you know that children in India are starving?
Your answer: B. Don’t you want to grow up big and strong like Mommy?

Once again, this is totally unfounded in reality. But it’s never too early to begin instilling guilt in your girl.

I say this: Don't say this to your child too often. I was a pretty picky eater in elementary school, and heard this statement or something to the effect at least once a week for almost three years. It contributed to my depression and "Been there, done that, bought the t-shirt" experience on suicide. So don't say it too often. It loses its effect and too much guilt is a bad thing. Thank you.

In other news, I have the Harry Potter VHS! I only got two of the deleted scenes, sob, but they're really cool. The extended potions class is really neat, and the studying/"I forgot" scene is great. *squees at the R/Hr-ness*

Randomness

dramaturgy: (Outlaw Star)
1. My family is a lot of fun when you get liquor into them. Especially my mom.

2. Bennigans serves far too much food.

3. I went with my grandmother tonight to meet one of her online friends. I want to meet you all! Somewhere! *sniffles* If you're ever in the Quad City area of Iowa/Illinois, drop me a line. *sniffles some more*

4. FictionAlley Park gets stranger by the minute. I think I started it.

5. Outlaw Star is a great show. Think I shall become obsessed. *floats off to ponder*

6. Planning to go see AOTC with my grandmother. Again. God, she kicks arse.

7. Mission trip leaves at 7 AM on Saturday, June 1. I am not ready to leave my computer for ten days. Although I must pity John who is going without 'net for 3 weeks while his madrigal group tours. Good luck, hon. And your welcome for the beta, BTW. :)

8. Um. Bad Girls academy RP starting to confuse me. Already left my MD RP because was all gratitous (spelling?) sex and lies and drugs and not really a high school at all. Mrph.
dramaturgy: (Yoda)
This post serves no purpose other than to show off my new Yoda icon made by Nicolae. Thanks sweetie!

That, and to post my insanely large reading list for this summer. Keep in mind, I will probably add to this.

Beware, you're in for a scare )
