Tennessee was fun. I'm glad I got to go with [livejournal.com profile] thinkatory and meet [livejournal.com profile] raven22 (again) and [livejournal.com profile] illegal_midget (for the first time!). Court is easily one of the most hilarious people I know and that is so much better in person. Especially when there is Skins and moonshine to be had. Despite our missed connection on the way back and therefore getting back to Milwaukee a little later than expected, it was a good trip with relatively few problems.

Oh my lord last day of the music meme! Hurrah! I suck at this, this should have been over a week ago. I don't know if I'm going to do another one right away again. There's a SPN one making the rounds, and a Harry Potter one, as well as a general TV and a Shakespeare one. Any opinion, flisties?

The main thing is that I have assignments on my syllabus and am going to send in my textbook requisition form today. \o/ Yay. So here's the last meme.

Day 30 - Your favourite song at this time last year
This time last year I was... well, in much the same state as I am now, although last year when I was freaking out it was over grad school and mostly where was I going to live while I was there. Now I am freaking out about whether or not I'm going to be an effective teacher.

Anyway. I got really into the band Trading Yesterday and their CD "More Than This" because someone had made a Castiel fanvid out of this song, and I heard it so hard. Like the couple times I have managed to actually RP Cas with someone besides Kitty, it has been journal titles material. The fanvid sadly no longer seems to be available, but you can listen to this awesome song, called "Revolution":

That's really all I have to say about that.

List. OMG it's done!! )

I had to. Like. I HAD to. This post contains SPOILERS for ALL of seasons 4 and 5 of Supernatural. I was going to give some kind of meta or commentary, but I really can't. I like to talk about things like this. It's why I'm a dramaturg. But there is simply too much to say. So you can make your own comments, I'll respond, and we'll have fun looking at Misha. XD Also, I kind of mistitled, because it's definitely Castiel and Jimmy moments, because I love them both. It's hard to see think of them as different characters, but I think that's why "The Rapture" is so amazing. See, there I go. ANYWAY.

This is the first time I've made one huge image rather than each cap being its own, because I think the latter way is easier to correct if there's a mistake, but I was worried about character count. >_> If the images aren't showing up, try refreshing the page.

*SPOILERS* Sorry, just had to make sure I was clear. )

More in the Things Are Not Going My Way Today saga.

First I couldn't bring up the car insurance documents to fax to the dealership -- because I need proof of insurance before I can drive the car away. Fine, no problem. So I call the guy because I don't have their fax number on me, and he asks me if it's a New York insurance card. I say no, because, well, it isn't. The insurance is Iowa, because we decided I was going to go on my parents' since it was cheaper by a lot. I didn't know that we could do that and I was confused but when I asked if it would be a problem with the car registered in my name here in New York, and he said it wouldn't. So I shrugged, said okay, and we moved along.

So my dad put my car on his insurance, although with me as a college student still in Iowa because that's the only way it would let him do it. Ergo, Iowa insurance card. Well I talked to him and he said that if we do things that way it would have to be registered and plated as an Iowa vehicle.

And then he's shocked when I start to get upset. Of course I'm upset. I'm not upset because it won't work that way, I'm not upset because of the snag, I'm upset because this is exactly what I asked about two weeks ago.

ARGH.

I feel like poor Cas looks in this icon.

I fell off a ladder in the theatre today. Luckily, it was just when I was coming down and I missed the bottom rung (or slipped, it happened too fast for me to really remember clearly). I went down on my ass and then started to fall backwards into the scaffold that was behind me. Cracked my head. It wasn't bleeding, and I didn't go unconscious at any time. I could feel everything and move fingers and toes, all that. They kept me immobile, called paramedics, and at the hospital they gave me a CAT scan. Everything looked clear, and I could walk in a straight line, so they released me. I'm sore, right now it's no worse than if I'd exercised real hard or slept at a weird angle, but it'll probably be bad tomorrow. I have Ibuprofen, so barring unforeseen circumstances, this is just another stupid accident and another story to tell about silly Liz. More than anything, I was stunned and then embarrassed.

This week sucked. I'm going to work on picspam now.

This today and Wednesday the SATD shot a staple through her thumb. I think someone said the name of the Scottish Play.

So for want of anything else to do on a Saturday night, I went to Bank of America's website (one of the two banks with ATMs on campus, and the only one off Long Island) and signed up for checking/savings accounts so I can get my New York residency. Monday I'll have to go see what I have to do to change my direct deposit account. :x

I DON'T WANT TO GROW UP AND BE AN ADULT. MAKE IT STOP.

ETA: Also, why does the universe hate me? Why is there a SPN con in Chitown right after I leave the Midwest? This can't be a coincidence. Because I could have been in the same room at that right there.

I'm sorry. You know what a man in a vest and tie does to me.

I'd kind of like to go to one. Because now that 5x09's aired I can only imagine the meta meta that will be going on will be FANTASTIC.

Minions did it! We got as high as fourth in Twitter's trending topics with #mishasminions. So in honor of the commandant's birthday, I have compiled a picspam of The Man, The Men, and the Angel. The pictures either came from misha-collins.net or [livejournal.com profile] shea, who has amazing logoless caps of some SPN eps. They all belong to their respective owners and Misha still belongs to himself. Can't have it all, I guess.

Title: Let Us Die to Make Men Free
Characters/Pairings: Castiel/Pamela.
Word Count: 1,479.
Rating: PG13.
Summary: Castiel goes the last place he probably should to get help for the Winchesters -- Pamela Barnes.
Author's Notes: Yes, I was looking at the Supernatural Kink Meme, want to fight about it? ... This prompt was '"Pamela/Castiel, with the prompt "Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord."' TELL ME YOU COULD RESIST THAT. And thus is my introduction to SPN fic.
Disclaimer: I do not own anything having to do with Supernatural and associated copyrights etc. I am a fan doing this for fun.

Even though the eyes had burned right our of their sockets, Pamela still saw the angel in her mind's eye. )
dramaturgy: ([SPN] Castiel/Anna.)
I'm putting the teaser image under cut because some people are more strident about their spoilers for shows than others, i.e. me. So here's the skinny: there are SPOILERS for Supernatural 4x16, "On the Head of a Pin" under the cut, and also there is no planet on which this is dial up safe. 122 images plus the teaser, I am not joking here folks.

Although, while I have your attention, you should all go read The Very Secret Diary of Castiel, Angel of the Lord which is quite humorous and touching at the same time. It's not spoilery at all unless you, um. Don't know who Castiel is or don't have a rudimentary grasp of Judeochristian mythology. In which case, um. Well I'm not saying this is the best way to start an eduction on the subject but you really could do worse. XD

There's Still Me )

[livejournal.com profile] picspammy's challenge this month is scenes. There have been a lot of good SPN ones, but I haven't seen this one yet, and this is one of my favorites from this season. I honestly have watched this scene so many times, I find it amazing for so many different reasons. I might be planning another one from "On the Head of a Pin," because there you can really cut the Castiel/Anna with a knife but damn I love the angels.

Received: One e-mail from Brooklyn College going "DUDE YOUR APPLICATION IS INCOMPLETE ARE YOU GONNA APPLY?"
Wasted: Five minutes going "WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON, DON'T ANY OF YOU PEOPLE TALK WITH ONE ANOTHER?" Now I know why there are so many Brooklyn jokes. BECAUSE THEY ALL DESERVE THEM.
Sent: One e-mail from me explaining the situation as I understood it, including pertinent details of my road trip to Coe last week.
Still Worried About: Whether or not my checking account is going to be empty when they ACTUALLY STOP HOLDING ON TO MY CHECK. I hate my life.

I repeat. I am never getting into grad school.
dramaturgy: ([SPN] I raised you from perdition.)
[livejournal.com profile] fanficrants should really just have a post that said, "I don't like smushed ship names," and then people can comment "ME TOO!" and then their disdain for smushed ship names can be publicly declared for God and the internet to see. We could even organize it by fandom. But from someone who kind of likes them (sometimes they're cute, sometimes they're clever, and yes, the forced ones are kind of annoying, but it's a fandom shorthand which is an interesting kind of lingual development in itself -- it's the password of a tribe), I'm bored of every. single. post. devolving into "I hate smushed ship names."
"Oh my god, me too."
"Me three!"
"Yeah, me too."
"*insert anecdote about how smushed ship names killed his/her parents and raped the dog*"

Also, the word is 'portmanteau.'

Whatever happened to the 'bisexuals don't exist' wank? Now THERE is a classic.
