dramaturgy: ([FF/S] I can see you...)
My car is totally fucked up and I don't even know what's wrong. It starts fine and everything, but it won't move. I put it in gear and I have to floor the gas before it'll even go anywhere, and then it's a crawl. I probably shouldn't have moved it as much as I did because I probably made it worse. I thought at first maybe I was dragging the muffler or something, but it just feels like the fucking wheels on the car won't turn. It left a wicked tread on the pavement and I KNOW that's not good.

I called both of my parents to see if they have to pow wow on whether to leave me here (NO PLEASE) or come and get me and if they can (YES PLEASE GOD PLEASE).

And today had started as such a great day. :(

Does such a place exist anymore?

Anyway, dad (HOORAY for dads who will come and get you and check out car trouble on a Friday night) came to Cedar Rapids to pick me up/check on the car. He came in the truck, and we drove the two blocks from the school to the parking lot where I keep my car (yes, believe me, I know) and he began doing his thing, jacking up the car and taking wheels off. I held the flashlight and answered his questions.

A guy came by and asked if we needed help, he could change a tire for cash, no trouble. My dad said no thank you, very politely, and when the guy asked gave him a few bucks. My dad is nice. I flashed to an episode of Daria (I want Daria to come out on DVD :( SERIOUSLY, WHAT'S THE HOLD UP?) where Jane says to her brother, "You know what they say about beggars being choosers?"

Brief pause before he answers, "Don't give them any cash, because all they'll do is buy booze?"

"... Yeah. That's it."

Right. Way to digress, Liz. Anyway. the one wheel that had left a tread on the pavement was not spinning freely (it's a back wheel and I have front wheel drive... so it should be spinning). He lubed it up and it began to work again. But he said he was driving it home in case something happened (because obviously him spinning off the road is better than me spinning off the road :\), and this left me to drive his Big Huge Truck. So basically, we had roughly the same chances of driving off the road. Luckily, that didn't happen and I am home safe and sound.

And I am watching Tarzan, because I love this movie. The music = WIN.
