I love that I can call my mother, say, "Can I come home?" and she'll say, "You can always come home." And then I'll say, "Yeah, I wasn't being serious." (Because I wasn't, I'm just being emo.) But she'll still say, "I was." And she'll build me up and listen to me complain. She'll let me be a speshul snowflake. I love my mom.

We made it through Aristotle's Poetics. That is about the best thing that can be said about that. I don't remember what their next assignment is, so I'll have to look that up so I can start planning it.

But OMG I had another person drop today and two MAYBE three more add. I'm like STOP IT. I AM NOT THIS AWESOME, THERE IS NO REASON FOR YOU TO SIGN UP. STOP.

Also, I'm not really sure how to deal with making up their work and the like. I'm doing it on a points system because that seemed to make the most sense to me, but like, I can't give them points for classes they didn't attend and things they didn't do. Grr.

My sister landed safely in Japan. Her blog is here, if you want to stalk her: http://intothelandoftherisingsun.blogspot.com :D

I'm putting the teaser image under cut because some people are more strident about their spoilers for shows than others, i.e. me. So here's the skinny: there are SPOILERS for Supernatural 4x16, "On the Head of a Pin" under the cut, and also there is no planet on which this is dial up safe. 122 images plus the teaser, I am not joking here folks.

Although, while I have your attention, you should all go read The Very Secret Diary of Castiel, Angel of the Lord which is quite humorous and touching at the same time. It's not spoilery at all unless you, um. Don't know who Castiel is or don't have a rudimentary grasp of Judeochristian mythology. In which case, um. Well I'm not saying this is the best way to start an eduction on the subject but you really could do worse. XD

There's Still Me )

So I have to do this quickly, but The Two Cents where I review The Mentalist and Dirty Sexy Money is looking for a reviewer for Fringe. It's a volunteer position, very low-key, reviews for an hour show are between 500 and 1000 words. They've lost two reviewers on this show already, and if you enjoy it and are so inclined, drop KP a line.

I don't even know if I have the words to describe how the last week has been. It's been amazing. [livejournal.com profile] thinkatory and [livejournal.com profile] raven22 were here until Sunday, and then I stayed with [livejournal.com profile] thinkatory's family in Milwaukee until yesterday. I had a really good time, I really did. There's just no words for being able to be with people you know you're supposed to be with when IM windows have to suffice for the rest of the time.

Maybe someday. But it's just such a letdown to be home alone again, even if I get to go back next week when [livejournal.com profile] roseanna's there.

Until then, new icon. Have a little JGroff in Hair.

While I was there, we got our first FA review on [livejournal.com profile] fathersandsons */pimp* which tickles me so much. So so much. *bounce*

My sister goes to school on August 19th. :o She's living in Murray, which was the dorm I stayed in with [livejournal.com profile] kay_cricketed our sophomore year. I think she actually might be in Mel's old room, 201? Something like that. Anyway, she's been talking to her roommate through Facebook and apparently they've hit it off spectacularly -- they're into anime, manga, and Twilight. I hope they're just different enough that it works out but similar enough to stay friends. You know? She seems to have been pretty lucky, I've been pretty lucky when it comes to roommates.

Yesterday was fun. I think my dad was a rockstar in a past life, possibly.

So the thing I was talking about yesterday... it's this: [livejournal.com profile] fathersandsons

For the last two years, [livejournal.com profile] thinkatory and I have been working on this... fanfiction project of the Harry Potter persuasion. Kind of. It's... big. There's no other way to describe it. If you are one of the people on my flist who might have a shred of interest in something that deals with MWPP-era wartime, werewolves (including Remus Lupin, Fenrir Greyback, and a host of others), politics, Order members, and yes, more OCs than you can shake a stick at (but the good kind of OCs) then you should check it out. The first chapter (which is admittedly prologue/backstory) is up.

Rhapsody in Blue by [livejournal.com profile] copperbadge.

If you have not read this fic yet and bowed down and worshipped fangirled commented and praised him on his lovely work, you should do so now. And when I say now I mean fifteen minutes ago.

If you've ever read "Bridget Jones' Diary" or Cassandra Claires LOTR VSDs, you will love...

The Very Secret Diary of George W. Bush.

Seriously, I apologize for the Spam, but this deserves an entry all its own.

I have succumbed to the LOTR section at ff.net. Oh, God help me. ::weebles::

[livejournal.com profile] iscaris's Through Bitter Chains ish v. good, though.

The Man With the Golden Wand, Chapter 3.

Or, "What Happens When You Promise Diri a Review and Don't Deliver".

Read Snow White, Harry Potter Style. You know you want to. Stories with sentences like, "No matter how mighty Voldemort was, he was unable to bear children, so he hated Princess Harry with all his heart" are just too good to pass up.

And, An excerpt from NaNo novel, 'Where Valor Proudly Sleeps' )

Note to self: Do not listen to Thank You while reading sad stories.

Oh my gosh. Read this. Seriously, I'm wibbling over here.

Was thinking of telling off this person, but then I realized that they had to put up with this person and immediately felt sorry for them. Sort of. Not really.

The Ten

Ten random things for July 31, 2002.

1. *toots kazoo* Happy birthday, Harry Potter! You're twenty-two! Go out, get drunk off your arse and get laid. You deserve it.

2. Happy birthday, J.K. Rowling! You're thirty-seven! Go out, get drunk off your arse, finish book five, and get laid. (Although not necessarily in that order.)

3. I went to Wal-Mart this morning and bought "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets". Woohoo, I'm liking this book more and more (but PoA is still my favorite).

4.Cairnsy rocks. Don't believe me? Read "Where Do The Children Play?".

5. Ni! Ni! I demand a shrubbery!

6. There is no number six! HA!

7. I'm enjoying the new additions to my friends list.

8. Mm. Everlasting Gobstoppers.

9. I need to work on my website, get it finished before school starts. *cries*

10. Now that I mentioned school, I'm all depressed. Off to make icons and banners to make myself feel better.
