I wish I knew why my two Eastern history classes are so damn hard. I have fewer IDs and I DON'T. FING. GET IT.

I can't stand this I'm going to bed.

Also it probably says something about me that I just saw an ad for 101 Dalmatians and my one thought was, "There is not a health department in the world who would let you keep 101 dogs. Especially not in London."
dramaturgy: ([Misc] Fidelity - Regina Spektor)
1. It's still cold.

2. I have a test tomorrow and a test on Friday, neither of which I feel prepared for.

3. I got exit counseling information for my loans in my mailbox today. This is bad because:
     a) It makes me think about money and I have about $30 to my name, and
     b) I don't actually want to graduate.

4. I hate choral arrangements of pop songs. Nine times out of ten they end up sounding awful, and this especially goes for anything that was originally recorded by the Doobie Brothers. I think it's the "rock authenticity" thing that makes people hate rock musicals, but that would make me a huge hypocrit.

5. I am trying not to hate people who went to New York recently/are going over spring break just because I can't go (see 3a above) but it's really, really hard.

6. I want to re-dye my hair but again, see 3a above.

7. I am skipping lab because I want to prepare for my tests but of course I am going to while away the time without actually doing anything (I've already successfully wasted an hour on things like lunch [which I don't normally eat on Monday/Wednesday/Friday] and checking my mail and getting a shower in today).

8. Where the fuck did my xanax go?

9. I still don't get half of went on in Asia before 1945. Public schools need to do a better job of giving us a foundation in that. It would be a lot more helpful than studying the American revolution eight million times. Mr. Pickup, my eleventh grade history teacher who is probably one of the major reasons I chose to study history, is forever my hero because we didn't spend a month and a half on it in Honors American History. We spent, like, a week because we'd all studied it before. I actually got to learn about things like Shays Rebellion and the Teapot Dome Scandal and not rush through it.

10. I hate essay questions that don't have a single question mark in them. Observe:
Kim Key-huik argues the main impact of the West's entry into East Asian politics in the mid nineteenth-century was that it revived a rivalry between China and Japan that had been dormant since Hideyoshi invaded Korea in the 1590's. Write an essay explaining the Sino-Japanese fight for Korea from 1868-1985 placing emphasis on both China's tribute system and Tokyo's new Western foreign policy. Account for the different ways China, Japan, and Korea reacted to the arrival of the West while explaining why Korea became a key component of Japan's foreign policy aims. Be sure to mention key figures like the Taewongun, Saigo Takamori and Queen Min, and key issues like: the Satsuma rebellion, the Kanghwa Treaty, the Capshin Coup, the Sino-Japanese War and the Kabo reforms.

I am almost done with this essay, I have no idea what I'm saying, and I haven't mentioned two of those three people and I don't even know what I can say about all of those things at the bottom. I don't know if the fact that I am taking a Korean history course and a Japanese history course at the same time is helping me because I am getting a lot of information twice, or if it's hindering me because now I have too much information on the other side and have no idea what to include.

I could keep going about things that are sticking themselves in my craw today, but I think ten is a nice even number to end at. Maybe I'll return later with a list of things that make me happy.
