Mind the gap!
Jan. 28th, 2007 09:12 pmMeaning the gap that is currently between my ears.
I am currently in the basement hooked up to the intarwebz at the Albert Hotel, a charming early Victorian building built in the 1850s. I'm staying on the third floor and there is, needless to say, no lift (elevator ;) ) so getting the suitcase up there was not the most fun that I've ever had, but I'll survive. Murray was spoiling me with their elevator anyway.
My flight was uneventful. The man who sat next to me was very nice and reassuring. He does international sales and was connecting for a flight to Amsterdam. In his words, "he does more flying than most people do in their entire lives." I tried not to be too nervous, but couldn't really help it but as I said the man was very nice. At Heathrow I accidentally told the guy who was doing my passport thing that I'd be staying for two weeks instead of two months because I was exhausted. x_x
The Tube was fun. I have been here all of twelve hours and I already miss public transportation. Otherwise the day has been pretty uneventful. I got a few necessities that I didn't bring with me (i.e. shampoo) and unpacked. My roommate seems pretty nice. I'm afraid I keep coming across as standoffish, but I'm just quiet. Bah. To know me is to love me, they shall see. I am excited to start classes. Neil (Professor Blackadder, I joke you not) has done dramaturgy stuff so hopefully I can get some advice from him on this before I have to go back and wing it for All's Well. We're going to see three plays this week, 39 Steps tomorrow night, The Seafarer on Tuesday, and... wait for it... Antony and Cleopatra withCaptain Picard Patrick Stewart. YES. PATRICK STEWART.
I might get even more rabid about it soon because I don't think it's hit me yet, but I LOVE THIS CITY.
