I've decided that I'm a fan of Samuel Beckett, just from reading Endgame. I was like, HEY, CHESS TERM! and was apparently thought quite brilliant for bringing it up on the class discussion. Go me.

We watched a bit from a filmed production with - wait for it - Michael Gambon as Hamm. A bunch of us were like, "Hey, that's Dumbledore. :D" Which apparently Dennis knew. BUT THEN, WAIT FOR IT... he told us David Thewlis was in it as well. I started laughing and was like, "Hey, that's Professor Lupin!" So it was like Beckett does Harry Potter. Except not. And I doubt Dumbledore keeps his parents in a pair of trashcans. Aberforth, however...

Oh yeah. They were both really awesome. But Michael Gambon is... well, I may have a tiny problem with his Dumbledore at times, but he's awesome everywhere else I've seen him. And I love David Thewlis too. (Didja see him in Timeline? He's fucking scary, yo. OR Dragonheart! He's kind of freaky in that, too.)

Studio 60 is getting lambasted, and that makes me sad. Because I truly love that show and people need to shut up. It's better than more reality crap that they keep trying to feed us. In short, you all should watch it tonight, 9 CST and 10 EST and I don't know what time that is for everyone else BUT DO IT!

ETA: There is, apparently, a small problem with me listening to Shostakovich's Waltz No. 2 from the Jazz Suite: I tend to sing along. Oops. Also it makes me sleepy. I love this song. It's one good piece of 20th century musical literature. Everything Shostakovich did is, really.
