Mar. 29th, 2006 02:29 pmThe Man in the Iron Mask is on AMC again. I watched the last part of it last night, and it's on again right now. Now that I actually know something about Louis XIV, I find it all the more entertaining. ("Paris is the most beautiful city in the world. Why should they feel anything but pride and contentment?" "I'm sure they are proud. And content. But they are also starving.)
I mean, all things considered, it isn't that great of a movie - for the plot potential, I think it could be better made. But COME ON. Gabriel Byrne, Jeremy Irons, Gerard Depardieu, and John Malkovich, all in one movie? It's worth sitting through just for that. I'm also totally amused by the fact that Raoul is ickle!Peter Sarsgaard, and D'Artagnan's right hand man played Atherton Wing in an episode of Firefly (which means the mystery of "WHERE DO I RECOGNIZE HIM FROM?" is finally solved, huzzah). Also, Hugh Laurie plays one of the king's advisors, which is about eight different kinds of awesome.
And behold my hot Anatoly/Svetlana icon.
ETA: DUDE.
LAURA FRASER IS IN THIS TOO.
WHAT IS THIS, NORTH AND SOUTH FOR THE NEW ERA?
