The academy awards!
I hate Joan Rivers. Hate her. She is not funny, not cute, I find her simply crass and trashy. And Melissa is just scary.
Looks Nice!
Jamie Lee Curtis -- I love the blue!
Keisha Castle-Huges -- I loved her earrings, they were so classy with her dress. It looks nice on her. And she wants to meet Johnny Depp. Good lord, how amazing for her.
Naomi Watts -- Beautiful! I'm not sure that it would be possible to look bad with something like Heath Ledger on your arm.
Holly Hunter -- Yay. I like color and style.
Dom, Elijah, Sean, and Billy -- They always look good. I don't think it's possible for four people to be so beatiful.
Jennifer Garner -- Teh beautiful.
Catherine Zeta-Jones -- Red looks so hot on her.
Nicole Kidman. Guh. She always looks wonderful.
Johnny Depp -- Hot. That's all I'm saying. Hot hot hot hot HOT.
Diane Keaton -- OMC. I love it.
Scarlett Johansson -- The dress is so pretty. It's a great color.
Sandra Bullock
Looks Eh.
Alison Krauss -- I like her dress, but... I dunno. Something seems to be missing
Elvis Costello -- I didn't care so much for the pink shirt (yes, it was pink) and red tie.
Liv Tyler -- ...Eh.
Carlize Theron -- Dress looks nice, but she is way too good for fake bake.
Looks Augh!
Kelly Lynch -- Urgh. Blue dress with the ruffles on the back?
Yay, Johnny and Keisha! That was cute. :) <3
I love Sean Connery. The introduction was great. I loved the movie thing. I laughed and laughed. And they so smashed Michael Moore.
Robin Williams is great. He will never stop being funny. Hooray for Finding Nemo! That movie deserves it so much I can't even find the words. How cute was the guy who accepted the Oscar with, "I said it in a note in eighth grade and now I get to say it in front of a billion people"? :)
I'll admit, I'm slightly curious as to what the French cartoon was about.
HALLELUJAH for a well-deserved win for Renee Zellweger. Yay for Blake Edwards, I love the Pink Panther.
Those in memoriam things are so sad. "To Kill a Mockingbird" is the first movie I can remember seeing (aside from My Little Pony and that kind of thing, I meant real film), and Gregory Peck is missed by me. But I didn't know Robert Stack had died! I always watched him on Unsolved Mysteries. I liked him. Baaah.
They looked so happy when LOTR won the first time. The second time was just great, I love the costumes for LOTR. The detail in every costume is stunning and it is completely deserved. Special effects and make up, YAY. Deserved also, those people down at WETA worked hard. Miniatures, prosthetics, scales doubles, props, and sets, motion capture suits, CGI... It. Is. Well. Deserved.
Uh, sound mixing and editing. Don't know much about that, but it's all good since LOTR won. :D I haven't seen Master and Commander yet, but what I've heard has been mixed -- good, bad, eh. Score was the one I wanted really, really bad AND IT WON. HOORAY. I wish they wouldn't have had to do so much editing for LOTR (:D) but it won anyway, which is great. "Into the West" winning was just wonderful, that song is wonderfully touching and a perfect ending to the trilogy. Adapted screenplay was wonderful.
Hooray for Sofia Coppola for the original screenplay! I would have rather had Nemo, but I'm glad she won, too. I really wanted Keisha (Whale Rider) to win best actress, but Charlize Theron is also deserving, good for her. Being ugly is hard work, I should know. Enough self-deprication. :D Johnny Depp didn't win, :( but Sean Penn did, so I guess that's all right. He does good work, and had been nominated three times before. Good on him.
I have no words for the best director award. Peter Jackson did amazing work, and just... wow. It's all his. I hope they have a nice place to put all these statues in their home. And they kept playing the lighting the beacons music, which made me happy.
Best picture.
Dude. No Words. I am filled with such happiness for everyone who worked on these films in any capacity, because they were all a part of it. That is what I call pay off.
Quotables
"We all have a little Jewish woman inside of us. Even Irishmen."
"Babs. Can I call you Bibbity?"
"Can I call you Shreky?"
"Sure." -- Barbara Walters special
"What am I wearing tonight? Boxers." -- Bill Murray
"2.5, want to buy it for me?"
"You know, we could just rip it off right now and run."
"We could." -- Maria, Peter Jackson, and Elijah Wood
"All you have to do is decide what to do with the time that is given to you."
"And all this from a guy who was in a nine hour movie." -- Introduction
"Gentlemen, start your egos." -- Billy Crystal
"Of course Johnny is nominated for playing Jack Valanche's worst nightmare: a slightly gay pirate." -- BC
"Eleven nominations, one for each ending." -- BC
"She[Sofia Coppola]'s saying it's great to be nominated, but I don't think that's true. This morning Peter Jackson woke up with Seabiscuit's head in his bed." -- BC
"Do you know people are moving to New Zealand just to be thanked?" -- BC
"Sofia, I've always wanted you to be in the family business." -- Francis Ford Coppola
"Don't worry, they have me under a restraining order." -- Adrien Brody
"Fantasy is an 'F' word that hopefully the five second delay won't do anything with." -- Peter Jackson
Like I said to the FPO girls, I wish I was hot and in Hollywood tonight.
