At the moment there are actually no gauntlets. I'm not sure if I'm more afraid of gauntlets being thrown or no gauntlets being thrown. It's like Schroedinger's gauntlet.

A gauntlet means that someone considers you worthy to get in the ring. Generally speaking they're right; at the very least you can say you picked it up and marked up your competitor as hard as you could.

It might be alive or dead depending on the random behavior of a radiation source?

...Jeez, I'd hate to have to fight off an alive gauntlet that had been thrown at me. I mean, sure, it would be small and hand-sized, but I bet it would bite.
