(no subject)

So instead of talking about how apparently my worries about SUNY should not have been about the program but about the college in general, I am going to say this: "firm deadline" for housing which I am somehow only hearing about now was way back in May. So I basically have nowhere to live. I might very well need that couch, [livejournal.com profile] strangerface. Even if that is quite a commute. I am trying to look on the bright side. Maybe I can find a nice, quiet apartment where I can have a flower box and not have to put up with dorm parties or something. But I would not count on sleeping tonight.

And now I'm going to talk about the positives, i.e., the good things happening. Because there are some.

I tripped across this set of EXTREMELY SPOILERY shooting pictures for S5 of Doctor Who. I am excited because it seems as though RIVER SONG is paying the Doctor a visit. Somehow. I know some fans were like RIVER SONG RAWR but I like her. And Matt Smith looks adorable.

Also, my friend has gotten us tickets to see the Spring Awakening tour in Chicago on the 4th. And he likes stalking stagedooring. So when I go, I am going to leave all of this crap at home and have a good time, dammit. And then I will head to Milwaukee, where [livejournal.com profile] roseanna will be waiting for me with her bosoms arms wide open. ([livejournal.com profile] thinkatory as well, but. You know.)

Does SUNY have a site to find off campus housing? Or do you have to use craigslist? (Pool!) Of course my couch is available. It pulls out into a sofa bed. Fancy, eh?

Yeah, and I've been browsing it on and off for the last few hours. I think "beggars can't be choosers" is pretty much summing up the situation right now, and the site is fairly helpful (one of the search criteria is the distance from the school -- walking/biking/on a bus route/driving). It's just kind of a pain because I'd really rather not rent someplace unseen. I have seen too many episodes of The People's Court. But on the other hand, anyone advertising through the university has to be legit, right?

Ooh that is fancy. Now I know where I'm staying for a night in the city. :P
