Movie night at Liz's house!

Rented three movies tonight: "Cruel Intentions", "Black Hawk Down", and "Life as a House".

"Life as a House" was watched first. It was incredibly sad... if you cry easily, do not watch this movie without a tissue. All of the acting was excellent, although I certainly hope Hayden Christensen (::slurp::) doesn't start getting typecast as "moody". "We're only talking about six inches, right?" Pure. Fucking. Genius.

"Black Hawk Down" was just, wow. Amazing. I always feel so removed from war movies. Pearl Harbor, Glory, The Patriot, Braveheart; I always feel like I was just a spectator (and really, as a movie watcher, that's what I am). Black Hawk Down felt more... real to me, knowing that this was happening while I was alive and almost eight years old (the mission took place on October third and fourth, my birthday is the seventh). Its amazing.

Away from the historical aspects, it was a great film. I was a little confused on what the mission was at first, because it was explained in all army terms. But, once I understood the politics behind it and what exactly they were supposed to do, I was okay. And I was getting a little frustrated with how they were doing things (OBVIOUSLY sending in ground support was NOT working), but what are you going to do? What other choice did they have? At any rate, Josh Hartnett, Ewan McGregor, and Orlando Bloom all in one movie. Mm mm mm.

Mom and I weren't doing so hot on guessing deaths...

1. Orlando Bloom's character, I forget his name. We figured he'd be the first one to go because he had the enthusiastic "I'm going to kick some ass" attitude.
2. The guy who called his wife before going out on the mission and didn't get to talk to her.
3. Ewan McGregor (Grimes). Because, one, he'd always wanted to do combat but had stuck to coffee, and two, that's just my luck. ::grin::

Still have to watch "Cruel Intentions".

Jokes of the Day:

How many conservatives does it take to change a lightbulb? None. If the government leaves it alone, it will eventually screw itself in.

How many real men does it take to change a lightbulb? None. "Real men" aren't afraid of the dark.

Bush and Cheney were out for lunch in Washington one day. Cheney ordered a salad, and Bush leaned over to the waitress and asked, "Can I have a quickie?"
The waitress backed away, and said, with as much dignity as she could, "Mr. President, I thought you were going to establish a new moral standard in the white house. We see what a false promise that was!" And with that, she walked away quickly.
Cheney leaned over the table and said, "George, its pronounced quiche."

Ooh! Ooh! *Shivers* Cruel Intentions is AWESOME!

I watched it on my birthday, SO good.

Ryan Phillips (if I mispell, I totally blame it on what time it is) is so bloody gorgeous. As you already knew, but still, it's just one of those facts that you must always repeat. And it's full of super-good acting.

I'm done gushing now. *Tips hat* Better skip out! Long time no talk, eh?

NO! STAY!

Did you ever get the icon I made you for your birthday? Ever?

If not, I made another one. ::grin::
