I like this one.
As was demonstrated in an interview with Katie Couric, Sarah Palin is unable to name any Supreme Court Case other than Roe v. Wade.
The Rules: Post info about ONE Supreme Court decision, modern or historic, to your lj. (Any decision, as long as it's not Roe v. Wade.) For those who see this on your f-list, take the meme to your OWN lj to spread the fun.)
Tinker v. Des Moines (1969). Supreme Court voted 7-2 that the school sending John and Beth Tinker home for wearing a black armband as protest to the United States's involvement in Vietnam and now allowing them to return until they complied with policy violated their First Amendment rights. It protects free speech in the classroom, within reason. Subsequent jurisprudence has given public schools the right to punish for indecent language (swearing, sexual innuendo, etc).
