Friday - Jack the Ripper walk and a sketchy internet cafe.

Hello! Because the Albert is internetless at the second in the classroom and I have no interest in going back into the basement, I greet you all from a simple little internet cafe in... okay, I'm not sure where I am, I might still be in Westminster. But it's in a pedestrian alleyway off a side street off Oxford St.

So today we had class with Neil and got tickets for our show on Monday (There Came A Gypsy Riding) and dismissed. I went to Paddington station and got my return tickets from Wales (!!!!!) since I wasn't gonig to be leaving from there (long story short I bought my return tickets first, from Pembroke to London, but London to Haverfordwest was not happening for less than sixty pounds, so I took a bus which is cheaper. The Bed and Breakfast I'm staying in there is a little pricey, but it's a short walk from the bus station which was its main attraction anyway. No word back from the Pembroke people yet, but from what I understand there are multiple places I can stay, so I'm not too worried.

The Jack the Ripper walk was FANTASTIC. I went tonight because the guy who I thought was going to give it, Donald somethingorother is considered the premiere Jack the Ripper scholar, but I guess he was on holiday. The guy we had was very good. I'm not going to lie, it was creepy. It was so atmospheric to walk through the City and agh. I'm getting chills. XD

RIGHT. Okay. We started at the Tower Hill tube station where I paid my six pounds, and met a lovely couple who were visiting from Surrey. They asked me a lot of questions about where I was from, why I was here, how long I was here for, what I'd done, what I was going to do, and througout the walk they were so great.

We went to the site of the murders, the Ten Bells pub. At Mitre Square, I was standing less than a foot from where the guide pointed out the body of the third or fourth (I can't remember which it was, they were on the same night) woman was found, which was pretty chilling. We stopped at the end of Dorset Street, which was where the fifth and last murder took place, and. Jeez. I can't even give the details because I'm sure those are details not appropriate for children under a certain age.

According to my guide, the movie From Hell was completely wrong but for a few key facts. For instance, the guy that they hint at who it is was totally incapacitated by a stroke. Oh well, I still like it. :D I really enjoyed that walk, I'm glad I went. The guide said that if we were going to have nightmares, the one thing he could assure us of was that Jack the Ripper, whoever it was, is now dead. And if we Americans wanted to have a real nightmare, we should think about the president that we have to go back to. HA.

My original plan was to hang around here at the cafe and take the night bus back to Kensington, but I'm a little creeped out by the idea of walking around on the streets late at night now. I'm so impressionable.

Tomorrow I was thinking about Portobello Road Market and laundry/classwork on Sunday. If internet's back in the house I'll figure out something closer, because this is sort of ridiculous. I love you all. :D

I went on that same Jack the Ripper tour! The part in the parking lot, where you could stand right on the spot where he killed his last victim, was so extremely creepy. It was awesome.
