Okay, I'm going to give everyone some advice right now. When you are working on a sewing machine, pay attention to what you are doing. More than that, know that you are paying attention to what you're doing. Because if you are like me, you can think you are paying attention to what you're doing and the next thing you know you'll have a sewing machine needle through your finger. Which was my excitement for today.

It was so weird at first, like it wasn't my hand that I was seeing. Except I knew that it was because it hurt a lot. We got the needle out of the machine, still in my finger (amazingly, not bleeding - I guess the needle was acting like a plug), and Dennis and Chelsea went with me to the ER at St. Luke's. One good thing was that they put me on Fast Track Emergency so that I wasn't waiting forever. It's not like I was dying or anything, but man it hurt. I think I was more shocked than anything. I had to have a few X-rays taken to make sure that it wasn't near the bone, because it had gone right through my fingernail. Then they just deadened the finger and pulled it out with a pair of pliers. Then it started to bleed a bit, but it wasn't so bad.

It was nice to have Chelsea there. God bless Chelsea. I love her. We talked about how St. Luke's looks less real than Seattle Grace (which I'm not sure I agree with, but I figure it was nice of her to try and get me to think about anything besides the needle in my finger), and how House wouldn't have wanted to see me because I was diagnostically boring.

Yeah. Ow. x_x I'm going to eat and work on my presentation for Historian's Craft now.

Oh man, getting vaccines are bad enough, but this. *winces in sympathy* Eat lots of cookies with hot chocolate, you deserve it! *squishes gently*

I have Reese's Peanut Butter Cup pie, which is better than cookies. But thank you. ♥

...fuck. Ow. Okay, never asking to borrow my roommate's sewing machine when she's not there. (Not that I think she'd let me, 'cos it's her baby, but man.) And yeah, whenever I get obnoxious hand injuries it's like the injury is something I've got in my pocket or something, not, you know, part of me. It's also really weird to learn about human anatomy in biology, because it's all "the heart wall contracts blah blah blah capillaries" and you're like "Hey, cool idea. ...WAIT, that's REAL?" Like it could be real in frogs, but people are something different.

Yeah, I really took a look at it for the first time right before they took it out. It's weird. x_x ♥

funny thing is... i've done something like that, only i didn't go through the nail, and the needle just came back out.

Feel Better!

OUCH! I've pricked myself with a needle before and that hurt BAD...I can't imagine what it would be like to have a needle THAT far into my finger. Hope it heals up nicely and doesn't keep you from having fun in the next few weeks!

[identity profile] twelveeyes.livejournal.com 2006-12-06 04:59 am (UTC)(link)
... yeowch! Hope your finger is alright...

[identity profile] dramaturgy.livejournal.com 2006-12-06 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
It's all right. Still a little hurty and achy but I think it deserves to hurt a little bit.

[identity profile] twelveeyes.livejournal.com 2006-12-06 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
*nods* of course it's allowed to hurt... it got a great big needle shoved through it!
