Sigh. I hate subject lines.

The weekend was fairly uneventful. I was more than ready to leave at 9 AM this morning. Not only did I miss you all, but apparently I missed more than I would think here. *beats Marcus's head in with something heavy*

Friday: Uneventful. I was the only one in my family that didn't fall off the jet ski. Also, my parents capsized the jet ski. That made the entire trip worth it. And then my uncle organized a pool Quidditch game. No kidding. Gryffindor (my brother, my dad, and I), versus Ravenclaw (my uncle, my mother, and my two cousins). It was great fun, even though the Gryffindor defeat would be enough to send Oliver Wood into a conniption fit.

Saturday: Big wave in Lake Michigan knocked me over. Drabbled and wrote a good part of the day. This is not a bad thing.

I was more than ready to come home this morning, but, sigh. Today was a horrible day for me. No matter what I do, for the rest of my life, July 28 is no longer going to be "My dad's birthday". Its forever going to be "The day that Cory died, and, oh yeah, my dad's birthday". So, as you imagine, I was not in a good mood at all today. Came extremely close to being grounded at home with no internet. Doubt I would have played guilt trip card.

Ah, yes. Drabbles and ficlet.

The ficlet is dedicated to [livejournal.com profile] relic5_5, who is my sun, my moon, and my starlit sky. Without her I dwell in darkness! :D Love you, sweetie.

"Clearwater, Penelope!"

Penny steeled herself, and walked up to the stool. Professor McGonagall placed the hat on her head as she sat. It wasn't like she thought it would be. Rather, it was like having a friend that she hadn't seen for a long time in her head. "Mm..." the hat said to her. "Such an ambitious little thing you are. Clever mind, sharp wit, and a quick tongue."

Er...thank you was the only thing she could think of to reply with.

"Slytherin will bring out your ambition; put that cleverness to use." the hat told her in a whispery voice.

The suggestion of going into Slytherin nearly frightened Penny right out of her knickers. She thought about those nasty Slytherins she had met on the train; that Marcus Flint, Terence Higgs, and their lot. The thought of those reprobates mocking her, belittling her, and calling her Mudblood, and just plaing seeing them when she didn't have to almost everyday of the next seven years of her life nearly terrified her into running away from there. "Not Slytherin, please!" she begged, ready to make a deal with the hat for her soul if need be.

"You sure?" the hat said dubiously. "Slytherin will help you with your shy streak, and help make you great."

"I can make myself great," she said to the hat. "Just... please... not Slytherin."

"Ah, yes, I see it now," the hat said, sounding enlightened. Penny didn't have chance to ask what it saw, it finished its circle talk up. "There's only one place for you. Head over to...

"RAVENCLAW!"

Wasn't that great.

This is the drabble I wrote. I'm dedicating it to [livejournal.com profile] digikym and [livejournal.com profile] mireille626, because without their woobie Terence and Marcus, there could be no woobie Penny. You guys are some of the best people I know. Stay that way.

Penny walked out of the library, and checked the hallway. Satisfied that no one was there, she walked toward the Ravenclaw dormitories.

But soon enough, she heard people walking behind her. "Look, Terence, its the little know-it-all Mudblood." She recognized Marcus Flint's jeering tone immediately. Terence joined in with something she didn't catch, and she walked faster. Flint laughed. She broke into a run, and didn't stop until she reached her dormitory.

Penny angrily threw her books on her bed and wiped at her eyes. Stupid Penny, she thought furiously, and sniffled. Never let them catch you crying.

All right, that's about all the angst I can handle for one night.

*applauds* I loved BOTH drabbles!!! Oh, they were wonderful! Those nasty Slytherins are such mean boys. *kicks them in the teeth* Oops. I just fixed Marcus'... ah well. Good for him.

*snuggles Liz/Penny* Loff you. :D

Awww. Mean!Baby!Marcus needs to be smacked.

And he loves his Penny now, he does. Doesn't know what he'd do without her. She gives him cookies and tells him when he's being a complete idiot.

Hehe. Indeed, what would any of these boys do if they didn't have Penny to smack them around?

(He's in a bad way with that curse, though. Like I said, whack him over the head with a heavy object.)

Every now and then, I catch myself thinking of Penny and her Slytherins like Wendy and the Lost Boys....

And yes, Marcus is in a bad way. Terence and Adrian will work out how to fix him, though. And then Penny will probably have a pathetic Slytherin crying on her shoulder. *g*

Kudos on the Willow reference. One of the best movies ever! And Val Kilmer in a pink dress isn't bad either....;)
