A tip. Take the broom.
Point the handle at YourCeiling/floor of AboveAsshat.
Repeatedly use the handle to bang at the ceiling. Straight up now, no angles or waving about.
Straight up and BANG!
It makes a tremendous noise, and often makes a difference.
