Squee

I went to Scooby Doo today (wasn't a bad movie in my opinion if you're in the mood for something slightly silly). Highlight of it was the CoS trailer! This looks like such an impressive movie, I can't wait for it. *sighs* 152 days to go, according to thesnitch.co.uk.

According to ronisfunky I have a cool sorter. *huggles*

Part 1: the books

1)Who introduced you to Harry Potter?:

Myself. Sigh. I was grounded from TV and computer, and, after looking around to make sure that no one was looking, picked up the book off the coffee table and started reading.

2) What was your first reaction to reading the books?:
They mady me feel… I dunno. Bouncy. Happy. Magical. By the time I finished the fourth book, I had a sense of foreboding.

3) How many times have you read each book?:
I've read SS, CoS, and GoF each a couple times, and I've read PoA about seven times. Its my favorite. :D

4) If you could change anything about the books, what would it be?:
Nothing. I know there are teeny little spots that annoy a few people, but I think they're fine the way they are, for the most part.

5) If you could give J.K. Rowling any advice for the upcoming books in the series, what would it be?:
To stick to her plan for the books, and not let what other people say affect her writing.

6) If you could change the titles of the books that she's written so far and/or choose the titles for upcoming books, what would they be?:
The titles are fine. I'm not exactly very good at making up titles.

7) J.K. does not plan to do this, but would you want her to continue the series after Harry graduates?:
Not really…what I WOULDN'T mind is an encyclopedia of all the stuff she has down that we supposedly don't need to know. Her notes, drawings, discarded chapter one of PS beginnings, that kind of thing.

8) If she did, what would some of the titles be?:
Oy. Told you I'm no good at titles. >_<

9) Which book is your favorite and why?:
I love PoA, because its sort of a 'bridge' book. It has more to do with people and things close to Harry rather than a magic nemesis. Not to mention I just plain like Lupin. :D GoF is a close second.

Part 2: the fics

1) Slash or non-slash?:

I'm mostly a non-slash reader, but I will definitely read slash if I'm in the mood for it.

2) What are your favorite slash and non-slash ships?:
Ron/Hermione, Draco/Ginny, Harry/Hermione, Percy/Penny, Tom/Ginny, Arthur/Molly, Flint/Bletchley, Snape/Trelawney, Neville/Susan, (now for slash) Percy/Oliver, Harry/Draco, as well as a few *insert character*/Self. :-D

3) What is your favorite website for fanfiction?:
FictionAlley, occasionally Fanfiction.net

4) Who is your favorite fanfic author?:
Oh don't make me choose. *tortured look* Barb, Cassie, Iniga, Rhianna, Seldes Katne, The Elder Wyrm, Al, John, Lori, etc etc etc.

5) What is your favorite fic?
Anything by the above authors… currently I'm squeeing over "Thick as Blood" by Lisse, "I Am Lord Voldemort" by Nemesis, and "At What Price?" by The Elder Wyrm.

6) Do you write fanfiction?:
Yep. Currently I'm on TDA and ff.net (Dizzy Grl, and yes, that is G-r-l).

7) Why or why not?:
Because the plot bunnies haunt me and make me. *cries*

Part 3: you

1) If you were at Hogwarts, what house would you be in and why?:

Gryffindor. I'm stupidly brave most of the time, although I have been dwelling in the Slytherin perimeters lately, so thanks to my supposed cool new sorting (so touched *sniffles*), I am a Gryfferin.

2) Who is your favorite character and why?:
Anyone with 'Weasley' attached on the end of their first name, and the trio, and Remus, and Sirius…

3) Which character are you most like and why?:
Probably Hermione. I can really identify with her.

4) When you meet someone, do you automatically determine which house they would be in or am I the only freak who does that?
Erm, not real people, but I do it with people in other books. Like I did it when I was reading "A Tale of Two Cities". Sydney Carton went into Gryffindor with Dr. Manette, Lucie Manette was a Hufflepuff, and Madame DeFarge was a Slytherin. Charles Darnay was hard to place, though.

5) Do you know anyone who reminds you of characters from the book?:
My Language Arts teacher from this past year sort of reminds me of Lupin, in a crazy, batty, fun sort of way…

6) How do you think the books would be different if you were at Hogwarts?
Hm. I'd probably be more annoying than of a help, but boy I sure could try. :)

7) If you were on the Quidditch team, what position would you play?:
Chaser. From my experience in soccer and basketball, I'm a lousy defense-woman, which puts keeper out. I'm not very good at spotting tiny details, so seeker's out. And I don't think I'd make a "fair beater", and with my experience in sports I'm better at scoring and hitting a goal than anything else.

8) Which class would you most look forward to?:
Defense Against the Dark Arts looks like fun, and Arithmancy sounds like fun.

9) What type of pet would you have?:
An owl. Dur. If I had an owl, I'd name it Artemis. Or maybe I'd have two cats, Shakespeare and Chaucer. I have six now, two would be a nice change.

10) What is your favorite wizard candy?:
Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans. They're kind of daring. :)

11) What is your favorite store (in either Diagon Alley, Knockturn Alley, or Hogsmeade)?:
Flourish and Blotts

Part 4: the movie/the music

1) Did you see the movie?:

Yes. Many times in theaters.

2) If not, why didn't you?:
N/A.

3) How does the movie compare to the book?:
The book was better, but it was a good movie. I don't see what some people get so hyperactive over.

4) If you were doing the casting, who would you hire to play some of the characters (i.e. Harry, Ron, Hermione, Draco, Dumbledore, Mrs. Norris... etc.)?:
In the future? Well, I wanted Jamie Bell for Tom Riddle, but now I'm rooting for him as Cedric Diggory. There's many choices out there for Lupin, just too many good ones to choose from. I want Ian McKellen to play Dumbledore, now.

5) Don't you think Harry Potter should have gotten the Academy Award for Best Original Score instead of Lord of the Rings? (just AGREE, dammit):
No. The music for Harry Potter was good, but Lord of the Rings deserved the win. Getting a bit cheeky, aren't we?

6) How many times have you seen the movie?:
Lost count.

7) What was your favorite scene?:
The Quidditch match. It was so exciting and a lot faster than what I thought! I guess that's mostly because I can only read so fast and my brain can only process that information so fast. :) That, and when Oliver Wood is teaching Harry Quidditch. *sighs*

8) Is John Williams a genius or what? (again... just agree):
Erm, okay. He's a good composer, I can't do it. But I'm thinking Harry Potter wasn't his best work. I was much more impressed with the AOTC soundtrack.

9) If you were crazy enough to disagree, who do you think could have done a better job with the music for the movie?:
He shouldn't be so repetitive with his themes. That's one reason the LOTR soundtrack is better than the HP.

10) Who do you think the best actress and/or actor in the movie was/were?
Alan Rickman of the adults, and I liked Rupert Grint the best of all the kids. All of the kids were lovely and complimented each other well.

11) ...the worst?:
I don't think anyone did a bad job, really… I don't pay attention to acting skills. Judge lest ye be judges and all that.

12) Were there any people who were perfectly in character?:
Snape was appropriately bone chilling, Ron made me laugh, Dudley and the Dursleys made me cringe, and Mrs. Weasley seemed very lovely.

13) Anybody who was so completely out of character you just wanted to scream?:
Dumbledore. I normally like Richard Harris, but… he didn't seem to be "into" this role at all. He was sort of bland. I did like the Erised scene, though.

14) What was your first reaction to seeing the movie?:
When the beginning came, and you first see Dumbledore walking along Privet Drive, I got this silly grin on my face. And when it ended… I was in a state of absolute euphoria. Everything was like I had imagined it, only ten times better.

15) If you were J.K. Rowling, how would you react to seeing the movie?:
I'd enjoy it. Realizing, of course, that this was a movie based on my book.
