dramaturgy: ([Celebs] Hello ladies.)
Little known fact: my best friend [livejournal.com profile] thinkatory and Matt Smith share the same birthday. The more you know!

You, um... you may just want to let this post load before you try and view it. I may have gotten a little carried away.

HELLOOOOOOOOOO STONEHENGE! )

It is [livejournal.com profile] thinkatory's birthday today.

Yes, David, I'm excited too. If I had the time, this would be a proper, pretty picspam like some of my others but since I'm exhausted, Kitty will just have to enjoy her present this way, as is. dealwithit.gif

This month's challenge at [livejournal.com profile] picspammy is brain twins, so basically that means two people are picspamming on the same topic. It's kind of fun to see what two different people will come up with on the same topic. Aaaaand I wanted to do favorite episodes of New!Who. So [livejournal.com profile] defyxgravityx volunteered to do it with me -- I'll post the link to hers when it gets posted. (ETA: Hers is here.)

I put these in chronological order. I could have tried to rank them according to my favorites, but it was already hard enough choosing ten. I think this list changed four or five times, and there are only so many hours in the day. I'm doing another one next week, so watch out for that. (Also, yes, I did lots of quotes. Get over it.) But for now:

"The Pandorica Opens" broke my brain, so I decided to finish and post my "Vincent and the Doctor" picspam. There are spoilers herein, obviously.

As someone who battles with depression and anxiety, I have a very strong attachment to this episode and now, perhaps by extension, Vincent Van Gogh. A friend of [livejournal.com profile] phiremangston said that it felt like a hug -- and it did. Not all of us are going to hang in the gallery, most of us will probably never become known outside of our own lives, but we can take the inexplicable loneliness and darkness that we're feeling and make something beautiful out of it.

But yes. Doctor Who touched on it and reached to me without making it into a Very Special Episode. It was nice to feel like my hand was being held for just a little bit, instead of everything just being awful for no good reason.

If we had gotten married our kids would have had very, very red hair. )
dramaturgy: ([Daria] Fuck yeah!)
Yes, another one. I think I've exhausted my brain though, so don't worry. You probably won't see another one this month.

I've always wanted to see my picture hanging in a nut house. )

[livejournal.com profile] picspammy has a second chance challenge! I really wanted to do this the first time around but I had read like three chapters at that time. And Temeraire is yay. In here there are general spoilers for the series -- nothing plot wise, but there are a few characters that I cast that don't appear in the first or even second book. Anyway! Yes.

Those men want to take Laurence from me, and put him in prison, and execute him, and I will not let them, ever, and I do not care if Laurence tells me not to squash you. )

I had to. Like. I HAD to. This post contains SPOILERS for ALL of seasons 4 and 5 of Supernatural. I was going to give some kind of meta or commentary, but I really can't. I like to talk about things like this. It's why I'm a dramaturg. But there is simply too much to say. So you can make your own comments, I'll respond, and we'll have fun looking at Misha. XD Also, I kind of mistitled, because it's definitely Castiel and Jimmy moments, because I love them both. It's hard to see think of them as different characters, but I think that's why "The Rapture" is so amazing. See, there I go. ANYWAY.

This is the first time I've made one huge image rather than each cap being its own, because I think the latter way is easier to correct if there's a mistake, but I was worried about character count. >_> If the images aren't showing up, try refreshing the page.

*SPOILERS* Sorry, just had to make sure I was clear. )

[livejournal.com profile] picspammy's challenge this month is for five things of something -- but no more than five. Here's my blatant attempt at not doing homework contribution for now!

THERE'S NOTHING IRONIC ABOUT SHOWCHOIR. )

It's Kitty's birthday today! (Well tomorrow where she is, but it's her birthday here in EST.)

If you've ever seen Ben Barnes, then I don't need to tell you how gorgeous this kid is. Personally, I really think it's the luminous smile that brings it all together in one hot package, but I also think that the hair is going to rule the world one day. It's nicer than mine. It makes me hate him a little. But then he's smiling and I'm okay again. Yeah. Moving on.

It's Ben F*#%ing Barnes. )
dramaturgy: ([FF/S] TRAAAAAAAP!)
Today I was supposed to work 10-1 in the shop, and 10-12 there is a lab of undergrads in there. It is FUN, teaching undergrads how to sew. Funish. >_> I was only in there until 12 today, though, since there wasn't really anything for me to do, and HOORAY that meant that I could take the 12:40 train into the city instead of the 2:40. I arrived, walked about 284503958 blocks, bought a wheely cart so that I can take my groceries on the bus and not break my arms from a man in a dodgy shop on 14th Street, and took a subway ride. All in all, it was good clean fun.

And then [livejournal.com profile] strangerface and I met at the Apple store in SoHo to stalk Nathan Fillion, our Captain Tightpants. It was a good time. Unfortunately, Apple didn't allow recording or photography during the talk and since I didn't want to get kicked out, I obeyed the rules like a good little girl. >_> It was awesome! He's totally a performer. He's very funny, very gracious, and every answer he gives is not like, OH I HAVE GIVEN THIS ANSWER A MILLION TIMES ALREADY. And he's even more gorgeous in person than he is on film. ♥

If you want to listen to the interview, it was recorded for a podcast series called Meeting The Filmmakers or something like that, and I'm sure if you Google it or search on the Apple site you can find it.

Nathan had to dash~* right after the program, but he was pretty gracious about signing a few things for some people. (I felt a lot less awkward hovering with fifty people rather than it being just Em and me.) We didn't talk to him, but I snapped these pictures and we both just generally basked in his gorgeous wonderfulness. And he was wearing those jeans, if you know what I mean.

Yessir, Captain Tightpants. )
dramaturgy: ([DW/T] Does it need saying?)
So last night after class I hiked up to Times Square (about fourteen or fifteen blocks) just to see what I could see. I walked around the theatre district and then went home, but not until after I'd taken about eight million pictures. Okay, not that many, but it was a lot.

Cut to save your flist. )
dramaturgy: ([Celebs] Misha makes kittens!)
Minions did it! We got as high as fourth in Twitter's trending topics with #mishasminions. So in honor of the commandant's birthday, I have compiled a picspam of The Man, The Men, and the Angel. The pictures either came from misha-collins.net or [livejournal.com profile] shea, who has amazing logoless caps of some SPN eps. They all belong to their respective owners and Misha still belongs to himself. Can't have it all, I guess.

I'm the one who gripped you tight and raised you from perdition. *LOVE* )
dramaturgy: ([DW/T] Sexual Harassment at Work.)
This is for the best little coffeeboy to grace the TV with his presence, Ianto Jones, and his class act of an actor, Gareth David Lloyd. He served Torchwood as their faithful receptionist like personage and then joined them in the fight against aliens to protect Earth, where he eventually... well. We all know what happened. He did this, and he did it in a three piece suit and coordinating tie with wit and panache. (Thought this probably goes without saying, this picspam is image heavy and not safe for bad connections.)

Mobiles, landlines, tin cans with bits of string, everything, absolutely everything: no phones, phones all broken. ''Hello? Anyone there?'' No! Cause the phones aren't working! )
dramaturgy: ([PD] HUGS.)
Because I need to do something in here besides whine. Have a meme.

01. Post ten of any pictures currently on your hard drive that you think are self-expressive.
02. NO CAPTIONS! It must be like we're speaking with images and we have to interpret your visual language just like we have to interpret your words.
03. They must ALREADY be on your hard drive -- no googling or flickr! They have to have been saved to your folders sometime in the past. They must be something you've saved there because it resonated with you for some reason.
04. You do NOT have to answer any questions about any of your pictures if you don't want to. You can make them as mysterious as you like. Or you can explain them away as much as you like

dramaturgy: ([QAF] All I see is you.)
[livejournal.com profile] picspammy's challenge this month is short subjects, like commericals, short films, or say... an opening credits sequence. >_> So I had to do what is probably my favorite credits sequence of all time, the Queer as Folk opening credits for seasons four and five. I love the music, that it's in black and white with only the rainbow bar for color, as well as the juxtaposition of multiple groups and pairings, and the overall feeling of joy and love that I came to know and love the show for. So here you go. Cue the pulse to begin.

So there are any number of things running around my head right now, but mainly I am doing everything possible to NOT FREAK OUT about how I don't have school information. I'm banking on it coming sometime next week -- no, I am praying for it coming sometime next week.

One method of my distraction was going to Summerfest in Milwaukee. As you all know I couldn't go see Flogging Molly, but I DID get to see Elvis Costello, who was AWESOME. I was not a fan per se before, but I definitely am now. I took some really nice pictures with my new camera. We also saw a really cool band called Katzenjammer, who are from Norway. But they were AMAZING. Like, I seriously would have picked up a CD if I could have found it. But, alas.

Katzenjammer )

ELVIS )

Phew. That was such an awesome show. ♥

[livejournal.com profile] picspammy's challenge this month is a lot more interesting. \o/

[livejournal.com profile] endofhistory and [livejournal.com profile] duchessdollydot are going to be here in 12-13 hours, so I should probably think about sleeping soon.
dramaturgy: ([SPN] Castiel/Anna.)
I'm putting the teaser image under cut because some people are more strident about their spoilers for shows than others, i.e. me. So here's the skinny: there are SPOILERS for Supernatural 4x16, "On the Head of a Pin" under the cut, and also there is no planet on which this is dial up safe. 122 images plus the teaser, I am not joking here folks.

Although, while I have your attention, you should all go read The Very Secret Diary of Castiel, Angel of the Lord which is quite humorous and touching at the same time. It's not spoilery at all unless you, um. Don't know who Castiel is or don't have a rudimentary grasp of Judeochristian mythology. In which case, um. Well I'm not saying this is the best way to start an eduction on the subject but you really could do worse. XD
